Honor veterans who have passed by placing flags commemorating their service at Grandview Park Cemetery. Counts for one scout service credit.
We will be celebrating Veteran's Day again this year Scout style by meeting up at 2pm at Grand View Park Cemetery which is on the border of Edina and Hopkins (see attached map). Veterans will share stories about their service to our country followed by the Scouts placing American flags at the graves of local Veterans who served in wars from the Civil War through Iraq/Afghanistan.
This event has been aired on the local news in years past so come dressed for the weather but in your finest looking Scout uniform. We will have a flag ceremony and representatives from the Hopkins chapter of the VFW speaking to our scouts about service to country and community. There will be cookies and warm beverage for all who attend.
Again This Year
I am requesting that all Scouts who attend bring a Thank You card (handmade preferred) addressed to our locals Veterans. Please be creative and put some thought into these cards.
Cards will be collected at the event and presented to the Veterans on behalf of Pack 427 and Troop 345 for display on the large bulletin board of the Hopkins VFW.
