Does this pack include girls?

No.  This is an all-boys pack for K-5 grade level boys.   If you’re interested in the Girl Scouts, there is an active troop in Deephaven.    Check out: https://www.girlscoutsrv.org/en/about-girl-scouts/join.html to explore area troops and learn more.

My boy does not attend Deephaven Elementary or St Therese School.  Can he still join?

Yes.  He can.  We do encourage you to check out the Cub Scout site https://www.adventureiscalling.org to see if his school has an associated pack as having school friends in the pack is a plus.  That said, we accept K-5 age boys from all schools.

I noticed your pack number is 3427 on the adventureiscalling website. Is that correct?

Yes.  You’ll see us a pack 3427 on the scouting info and registration site.  The 3 means we’re a Cub Scout pack.

I see you’re associated with St Therese.  Do we need to be Catholic?

No.  We accept families of any religious affiliation.

My child is involved in other sports/ activities.  When are the meetings/ events?

The pack (all K-5 grades) calendar / schedule of events for the school year is posted on our website. The next 3 months are shown on our public site.  Check it out at:

https://427scouts.trooptrack.com/calendar

There are about once a month den (grade level group) meetings as well that are organized by each den leader.  Dens are by grade.  K=Lions, 1st=Tigers, 2nd=Wolves, 3rd=Bears, 4th & 5th=Webelos.  Please email us at contact@427scouts.trooptrack.email to learn more.

Can I drop off my scout at events/camp?

Cub scouts are always accompanied by a parent at all events including camps.   If a parent can’t be there, he/she should make arrangements with another family member or pack parent.

We’ve never camped before.  Is that an issue?

Not at all! We love the outdoors and are excited to get others involved.  There are 3 overnight camps a year, and one of them is a tent camp.   We’ll provide guidance on what to bring and help newcomers with any questions they may have.  All camps have a dining hall and nearby restroom facilities.

What’s the cost of this program?

The dues this year are $205 for the season (school year). This covers scouting ‘infrastructure’ including camp facilities, Northern Star Council staff, training development, etc.  About 10% of this comes back to the pack to support local pack costs as well.

In addition, we do an annual (October) holiday wreath sales fundraiser that funds 90% of our local pack costs - to make all events free for scouts.  Most members meet their sales goal.   If not there’s a buyout.   For the ‘23/24 season, the full buyout (if no sales) is $130 for 1st through 5th grade scouts, and $65 for K-grade scouts. (Half price if joining in January or later).  There is no discount for siblings in the pack.

If facing a financial hardship, confidential financial assistance is always available by emailing our Treasurer at treasurer@427scouts.trooptrack.email

All pack adults leading the program are unpaid volunteers and parents of one of the scouts in the program.
